Lots of variety. Felt like a kid in a candy store the first time going in I will say that the 2nd time I got a milk shake I feel like the milk had expired because it tasted very "off". All the workers we very nice!

Four stars, but mainly for ambience. While the variety of ice cream was decent and the evenness of payment (I payed $5 even for a single scoop waffle cone) was strangely satisfying, the $5 price hike could only be justified by homemade ice cream, not the bluebell ice cream the parlor provides. There are two sections in the store, one for ordering and one for sitting, and the latter made up for the former. Complete with a creepy nonstop mechanical horse ride and a few old school arcade games, the sitting section provides a cute old timey feel to the place. Overall it was a nice experience.

While the flavors were creative (or, rather, a nice mix of creative and classic), the taste left a bit to be desired in my scoop combination of chocolate peanut butter and cookies & cream. A little bit of freezer burn, chocolate with frozen chunks of peanut butter (rather than an even distribution of flavor) and kind of a flat taste overall. My parents' ice cream dishes TOTALLY made up for this - the banana pudding ice cream was outstanding and my mom's classic coffee-vanilla sundae with caramel sauce was off the charts. Wish I ordered differently, but I'd go again!

I'm from out of town and noticed a lot of ice cream shops in Myrtle. There were a lot of flavors here but I think the quality and taste is equivalent to the 5 gallon generic brands you can buy at the store. Got the coffee flavor without sampling it because you can't go wrong with coffee right? WRONG. Tasted sweet and artificial.

There are lots of ice cream options in myrtle beach and Kirks has a few locations. But what appears to be a mom and pop ice cream shop that hand makes thier flavors, it's just a front for a regional brand. The ice cream was average and the store was a little dumpy. The bathrooms were disgusting.

Great selection of hard ice cream. They make a few classic sundaes and milkshakes. Big sitting area with a classic Pac-man and Galaga combo. If you enjoy ice cream it is virtually impossible not to like this place.

Absolutely the best! They have a ton of varieties to choose from probably over 20 or so. The ice cream was amazing and not super hard so it was ready to eat when you get it. And they have a private lot for parking, so be sure to grab a cone before leaving the beach. Great ice cream!

While on vacation we come here for our nightly dairy. The banana pudding and the praline pecan are our favorites. Crunchy nilla wafers in the banana pudding and crunchy pralines! Nothing soggy in the ice cream! Stellar!!

I highly recommend the Strawberry Cheesecake. If I didn't have to drive all the way back to Texas, I'd be taking a quart home with me! The atmosphere was adorable and staff was friendly. Loved the classic video games in the back. Mrs. Pac Man FTW!

Great atmosphere, workers, and ice cream! Can't wait to return for more ice cream to try another one of the yummy flavors!

Awesome ice cream! I got the birthday cake, my husband got chocolate peanut butter, and my friend got cotton candy. We were all really impressed with how good it was. Definitely the best ice cream we have had in a long time!!!

Loved this place. Cute retro feel. Delicious hand dipped ice cream with many flavors and lots of toppings. Nice guys that work there too! Loved loved loved.

The ice cream here is terrific! Just the thing to help one cool down on a toasty, hot day! We had the Ricky Road, Death by Chocolate, Coffee & the Peanut Butter Chocolate. Every bite was delicious and the service was fast.

  • Kerri M.

Only reason I didn't give this gem a 5 was because of the musty old bar smell. Staff was super and there was an endless variety of flavors! Banana pudding was delicious!

We absolutely loved Kirk's. The restaurant is comfortable and inviting, and the ice cream was excellent. What else do you want?

While I cannot confirm that kirks ice cream is indeed the brainchild of cpt. James kirk, I can say that if baskin Robbins and Ben and Jerry's had a love child it would be this place. Great stuff.

Great place to take the family on a night out. Several older arcade machines to keep kids busy while waiting for your order, or talking. The ice cream is not my favorite but not bad.

Based on the parking lot we thought it was packed... It's next to a pizza place. When we went inside it was empty which was fine with us. The staff were really nice and offered us free samples. My husband, daughter and I shared a triple size cup with 3 different flavors. We had vanilla fudge, sea salt caramel, and strawberry cheesecake. They were all delicious! Afterward my daughter enjoyed riding the mechanical horse. The vintage entertainment was nice. We are looking forward to returning.

Great service and ice cream! Nice place to sit and relax and enjoy your ice cream. Love the decor. Not sure how 1890's it really is. Maybe more like 1970's. I really enjoyed my orange pineapple ice cream in the chocolate covered waffle cone. Next time we're in town, we'll have to stop in.

  • Stephen W.

Sort of friendly service. Pretty good ice cream. It's blue bell. I was hoping for homemade, but that's ok, the price shouldn't be so hefty for midgrade outsourced ice cream. The place was pretty old inside which could be charming but it definitely needs a little revamp. It was just your average run of the mill ice cream stop.

    (3)
  • Ron G.

The ice cream was VERY TASTING! The place smells very musty. We would go back but I hope they figure out the smell!

If you're looking for great ice cream in Myrtle Beach, this is the place. My son and I stopped here after spending time along the boardwalk. He had the mint chocolate chip, and I had the butter pecan and pecan praline. All were excellent. The only difficulty -- choosing from the countless flavor options. We may have to visit again before we leave to try more.

Great ice cream parlor! A lot of flavors to choose from and service was very friendly! Would recommend anyone to come here.

Pretty good, but honestly it wasn't great. The selection was OK, but not impressive. Perhaps it is where I'm from with 2 homemade ice cream places within 5 miles of my house, so if you are easily impressed by cold treats don't let this review hold you back. The nostalgic atmosphere is a nice feel for chilling and was probably the more enjoyable part of our experience. Before you go, stop by Luigi's and get the chicken parm and lobster ravioli, yum.

Cute Old Fashioned Ice Cream Shop. Plenty of seating available. There are a couple of arcade machines in the back. The cashier was friendly and quick. He offered us free samples. Decided to try a small cup of Orange Pineapple Ice Cream. The serving was generous. The consistency was OK, it could have been a bit more smooth. We also found it to be slightly too sweet and artificial tasting. Pricing for cups are: Small $3.75, Double 4.26, Triple 4.93. Some flavor options include Black Cherry, Coconut, Banana Pudding, and Rum Raisin.

  • Endo M.

They do not make their own ice cream, it's Blue Bell. That being said, they have a wide selection of Blue Bell ice cream, but are a little pricey for not being handmade.

    (3)
  • Tom V.

Good for a hot day. They have a tasty assortment of flavors. They have arcade games and an old time basement vibe. Reminds me of a pool hall. Come in if you have that sweet tooth you will be happy you did

  • Jackie B.

Very nice, old environment but you can tell there's history there. I had the party cake ice cream that was delicious and had chunks of cake in it. Only downfall was that they didn't have soft serve for a friend of mine (when she asked them, they didn't know what soft serve was) and they didn't have milkshakes. Staff was very friendly though, the line moved quickly and the ice cream was delicious.

It's okay but disappointed. Overall smell walking in was awful. I don't know what It was. Idea is great. But just cheap.

  • EDWARD W.

We stopped in to have a mid-afternoon snack. We ended up splitting a double scoop cup of ice cream with chocolate, caramel, and other goodies. It was hard to choose between all of the varieties available. Very nice place with plenty of parking. Give it a try.

Fun place with good ice cream. And Ms. Pacman!! Nothing really special about the ice cream but we enjoyed it anyway.

  • Joe B.

Went here 2 nights in a row. Fist time, I had some caramel fudge ice cream. I really don't remember the name.. I wasn't crazy about it at all. Second night, we couldn't find anther place so we headed back here. Glad we did. This time I had one of my old standbys, butter pecan!! Damn that was good!!! They have a decent variety of flavors and multiple options such as different cones and cups. Place is sort of a throw back to the old days of ice cream parlors. Worth a stop when you are in the Myrtle area.

  • Jason M.

Really cool place to get ice cream fix even open until midnight. I was hoping for homemade ice cream but blue bell is not a bad second. The staff was friendly and portions were big just a bit pricey for ice cream. Overall the place is not too bad.

Be careful and make sure to double check receipts and/or statements if using a debit/credit card. Seems to be a common practice to ring up a $5 ice cream as $15, considering the owner was neither apologetic nor surprised when approached about the issue. According to him, similar "wrongful" charges have happened "numerous" times in the past. Was absolutely flabbergasted at his lackadaisical attitude and unwillingness to apologize, although I did get my $10 back. Good ice cream, just not worth the risk of subjecting yourself to credit card fraud.

Excellent value for delicious Blue Bell ice cream. The serving size is generous, and the selection is wide. Free samples of whatever you want to try. Cozy atmosphere where you can eat inside if you prefer.

Very good ice cream, free samples, decent price. Got banana pudding and double fudge brownie nut waffle cone and both were fantastic

  • M L.

This place was great! They had a variety of flavors to choose from and multiple options to choose from their menu. The woman who served me was very nice and welcoming! They don't have any business cards, but they do have brochures in which I took one. I ordered a double scoop ice cream on a sugar cone; black walnut on the bottom and praline pecan on top. Man, that was delish! I'm planning to stop by again tomorrow before my vacation ends!

Not even in the same league as South Beach Creamery. Blue Bell ice cream. Too sweet. And you can buy it at the grocery store.

Thanks to Yelp and my husbands co-workers, it seemed like folks from all over rave about this place and now I know why! I ordered a waffle cone with a scoop of rum raisin and black cherry. We sat out front on one of the benches and enjoyed the perfect weather and did a little people watching...I ate about 1/2 of it and had to throw the rest away just because there was so much! There are so many options to choose from-its perfect for kids and adults alike.

This is really good I've cream without the over-priced pretentiousness you get with some boutique ice cream places. The decor is 1970s and it goes great with the theme. If you are looking for a fun place to relax after a day at the beach, then this is your place.

    (5)
  • Stacy K.

Quick service even on a crowded night. You could sample the ice cream if you wanted to. A little pricey for ice cream but worth it. Unique flavors and different flavored waffle cones.

  • Stephen A.

Serves Blue Bell ice cream. Nice selection of ice cream. Typical beach prices. Lots of places to sit and really chilly A/C. A good stop after playing mini-golf across the street.

  • Pamela S.

So many options, healthy portions, and great service. I could not ask for more. Spent approximately $15 for two doubles and single with a cone..,,tax included. The peach and peanut butter cup (my fiancé) almond pistachio and banana pudding (me) and cotton candy (my step daughter) were excellent! Definitely recommended for those who can appreciate homemade Icecream.

This place was a good treat on a hot day. The ice cream was good, and the atmosphere was nice. The next time I'm in the area, I will stop in again for a different flavor because they have many to choose from.

We ended up here after standing around Friendly's being ignored at their ice cream window. Figured we'd give the local joint a try. Place is a bit pricey, but you get a good sized dish (a single was more than enough for me) Good selection as well. Parlor side is like a time warp with the old cameras and love tester machine. Wouldn't go out of my way for it, but if you're staying on this side of town give it a try.

Had their version of moose tracks and the pumpkin pecan ice creams both absolutely delicious!

  • Steve D.

Awesome selection. Able to taste to make selection. Praline Pecan is my new favorite. Julie loved the caramel fudge turtle. Will be returning here again very soon.

Great ice cream is hard to find in MB. We ended up here because they are open late (until 11pm)! They serve Blue Bell ice cream, which is good but I can buy that at home. If you can't get it at home, then it's a treat. They had a big selection of flavors and toppings. They were reasonably priced. 2 single scoop cups and 1 single scoop waffle cone was $13.00. Certainly not cheap, but we've paid that much for 2 cones at some places. They have a nice seating area and a few video games-even Ms.Pacman! This isn't the best I've ever had, but it's a good option.

Great place to get your ice cream fix, especially after a long day on the beach! My wife and I came after a long, hot day on the road. We were tired, cranky and looking for something to start our vacation off right. Enter: Kirk's! At first, I was upset at the seemingly millions of options available to me. Having too many ice cream choices, I thought to myself, was the BEST problem ever to have! I decided on the rainbow sherbet, and I wasn't disappointed! It was exactly what the long road trip called for. The flavors were so crisp, vivid, and yes, colorful! My wife decided on a pecan praline that sent her over the moon! We ended up coming back two nights later to try the other flavors on our list! Smooth, fresh, cold, and delicious. Great spot! Noosh!

  • Jeremy P.

Good ice cream! Service is lack luster though. Dining room was a little dirty and unkept. Had some melted ice cream on our table and the place was pretty empty so the tables hadn't been touched in a while. 4* for the ice cream, 2* for the service.

    (3)
  • Marco S.

Really good ice cream. Drove way out of the way to check this place out. Not unworth it. Had the Banana Split and enjoyed it.

Great ice cream with a price to match! You must go at least once on a visit to MB...if, for nothing other than the experience.

  • Tony P.

Big portions for the money. Some of the best Ice Cream I've ever had.
